After 15 years of not riding a bicycle I am back in the saddle. My reasons were to increase increase enjoyment in life and I really missed when i used to ride a lot. Reading numerous blogs. websites and reviews I had decide on a touring bike. The Surly Long Haul Trucker was my first choice. However I came across information about single speed bikes (
Fixies) and was fascinated. Somehow the simplicity of one gear and riding in a different manner sounded good. So on October 10 2009 a Surly Steamroller was delivered to my house. I ordered from an online company (Bicycle Bananas) who shipped the bike quickly. Inside the carton was a mostly assembled bicycle. I had to attach the fork, headset,handlebar and wheels. With my new bike all assembled I jumped on the saddle and rode up and down the street. My seat was too far back and the handle bars were too far forward. Alas the frame was too large. Trying a more sweptback handlebar did not help. So I need a smaller frame..............
